Assessment Steps

Assessment is a systematic process. Where assessment is conducted by a FRSITO Workplace Assessor the following steps occur:

 

Candidate support for assessment

  • Trainee is provided with assessment guides and process of assessment including the proposed assessment methods
  • Encouraged to prepare for the assesssment and to self assess
  • Provided with contact details for assessors, subject matter experts and others who can assist with their preparation

Prior to assessment

  • The assessor and the candidate discuss the assessment time, date venue and resource requirements
  • Candidates should discuss any concerns
  • The assessment appeals procedure is discussed
  • FRSITO o1 form is completed by the Assessor and the candidate

At the assessment

  • The activities to happen are explained, the appeals procedure explained, and an opportunity given to the candidate to ask any questions
  • During the assessment the candidate may request a halt to proceedings and may request reassessment at a later date
  • At completion candidates are debriefed and given individual feedback
  • FRSITO 04 form is completed and signed by the Assessor and the candidate. For level 1 - 4 unit standards the candidate will be given the yellow and blue copies. The yellow copy is to be forwarded by the candidate or their employer/host to FRSITO for processing. for level 5 or higher unit standards all copies will be forwarded to the Regional Moderator

Processing Results

  • Where a candidate has a Competent result the FRSITO forms are to be actioned immediately
  • Where the result is Not Yet Competent, a FRSITO 09 form will be completed and the candidate provided with feedback. Where this result is of a significant nature, the yellow copy of the FRSITO 04 form will be sent directly to FRSITo by the assessor
  • If a Not Yet Competent result is of a minor nature, the candidate will be given the opportunity for reassessment within one month

Appeals Procedure

  • The matter should be discussed with the assessor in the first instance. If there is no satisfactory outcome, the assessor and the candidate are to sign the FRSITO 09 form and record a summary of the discussion and the outcome
  • The candidate will be provided with a FRSITO 05 form and the appeal process outlined
