Assessment may be conducted by a FRSITO Workplace Assessor or by a Polytechnic or registered Private Training Establishment where they are accredited for the unit standard(s) by FRSITO. All assessment activities must follow the principles of best practice in assessment. FRSITO moderates assessment activites to ensure this occurs.
The following occurs in the assessment process:
Trainee undertakes training to prepare for assessment. This could include gaining on-job experience
From training the trainee is ready for assessment or requests assessment
Pre-assessment meeting with Assessor to explain process, place, date and time
Assessment conducted
Evidence is evaluated for validity, sufficiency, currency and authenticity
Results are processed
Following the completion of a Competent assessment decision, the results are recorded and added to the trainee's NZQA Record of Learning. FRSITO has policies and procedures in place to ensure that all results are processed in a timely manner; and works with external providers to ensure this occurs.
The assessment process provides for an Appeals Procedure.
The steps in this process are discussed in further detail in the following section.
