EMQUAL Assessors

EMQUAL Assessors are responsible for assessing candidates against unit standards that can lead to gaining formal qualifications.

EMQUAL Workplace assessors must demonstrate high standards provide leadership in maintaining the quality of assessments.

EMQUAL Assessors set an example to trainees.

The following criteria are applied when registering EMQUAL Workplace assessors:

  • must hold unit standard 4098. EMQUAL will help facilitate opportunities for applicants to gain this unit standard
  • must hold all unit standards that they are registered to assess and have sector experience in the subject area they are assessing
  • EMQUAL assessors are encouraged to hold unit standard 4099/11552 or to work toward gaining unit standard 11552
  • EMQUAL assessors are encouraged to engage in a Structured Training Programme towards, or hold the formal qualification(s) relevant to the domain(s) containing the units they are registered to assess.

When registering assessors, EMQUAL will give preference to applicants who hold or are working to gain unit standards leading to a formal qualification in adult education.

An application to become a EMQUAL Workplace assessor, is to be made on the EMQUAL Assessor Application Form, and must be endorsed by the applicant's employer/host organisation, or industry association signifying consent and support regarding:

  • availability to carry out assessment activities
  • having trainees to assess
  • attending mandatory moderation meetings; and
  • maintaining compliance with moderation requirements.
